Hildreth; Allow me to thank you for your courtesy to my associate, Dr. r.lachle, in m aking it possible for hi m to see your patient I felt that it would be very difficult for us to arrive at a conclusion in this case at the very best, and that we should know all that we can as to the progress of his case. I am much pleased indeed that Ivlr.< ___ is recovering, and it seems to me very likely on the rasis of the speed of his recovery that his condition was what is clinically called peripheral neuritis of a simple type* It seems highly improbable to me that poliomyelitis could thus recover 30 rapidly. The somewhat spotty char acter of the anterior horn cells casts a very obvious doubt upon this point, and yet my own opinion is that even the simple type peripheral neuritis is frequently if not uniformly a primary Involvement of the anterior horn cells. In any case, our examination of the blood may give us some information of Interest, which I shall be pleased to re port to you.
