Mackert Personnel Manager Hazleton Laboratories America, Inc. 9200 Leesburg Turnpike Vienna, Virginia 22180 Dear Mike: I am very pleased to accept the position at Hazleton, as offered in your letter of August 12, 1975. As we discussed, there are a number of personal items which I am planning to bring to Hazleton for the purpose of obtaining funding to carry out projects already planned. These materials ares ^ 1) Data from the human lead balance studies of Dr. Robert A. Kehoe, of this Department? 2) Human body burden data and tissues,-including 101 sets of tissues (approximately 29 different tissues from each individual), and; 3) Liver, kidney and hair`data and tissues for 124 individuals left from my recent FDA contract. The lead balance data was a result of 30 years research by Dr. Kehoe. I am very honored that he has made these data,available-to me in order to complete the data processing necessary for publication. I am currently completing the first year of a contract with the Ethyl Corporation, Dr. Mitchell Savon, project monitor. Both Dr. Kehoe and Dr. Savon indicated their hope that I can continue this important project at Hazleton, and each will cooperate to see that the necessary funding becomes available for this purpose. The other materials also represent unique and important collections of tissues and data for which I have spent much time and effort over the past several years. I may need freezer space ( 30 cu. ft. commercial ) K 0000398 2- - for the tissues, if I cannot bring any of ray freezers with me. I expect that obtaining support for the planned projects will well compliment my effectiveness at Hazleton without interfering with the duties that I am expected to perform. It should be obvious that if I terminate my association with Hazleton, these materials would be expected to leave with me. I also anticipate that if, while at Hazleton, we have not found support for the use of the tissues in projects by the end of one year, I will at my discretion, be able to return the tissues to the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Cincinnati, for their analyses, and for disposal as their resources permit.
