The Secretary presented a work er.eet aa a baala of discussion for the 1940 budget. This ess discussed item by item taking first the activities nos In progress.
1. Office Pjcer.se - It saa fait that the office ex panse l&currn curiae 1929, including salaries of additional
employees, would nave to be continued is 1940.
. " likewise, "Lead" would have to be continued in 190, in its enlarged site end mailing list, charging a proportion to the White Lead rund.
8. Feprint_ "What to._EAPCCl.._fJPW Whitt Ltsd faint* - It was fait that an additional printing of "Wnat to Expect from White Lead Paint" will be necessary in 1940 and that approxi mately 0,000 copies would be adequate.
4. Broadside to Oealers - It was also felt dtslrablt to sand another nr,e broadside to daalara, similar to the one used in 1929 and that this shou.d be aa striking in slat and character aa the original broadside.
t. Stockholder and Employee Leaflet* - It was also felt desirable again to circuiarlss atocanoidera and employees of
member companies.
6. Painter Leaflets - It was not fait necessary, however, to provide painters with sales nelps of any kind aa thw member companies supplied them a graat dwal of this material.
7. Publicity - It was felt that a great deal mora could be accomplished through publicity than has been accomplished during tne year 1929, through better organisation of publicity efforts and perhaps through the use of some creative publicity. The suggestion was mads that tha Secretary determine hoe much such publicity activities wouid coat to do an adequate Job.
8. field Work with Journeyman Painters - The Secretary suggested the possibility of doing field work with Journeyman
painters, pointing out while our member companies did con siderable work with painting contractors, none, to his know ledge, did muen with the Journeymen and that tha Journeymen's association of lb,000 members would be receptive to thla type of work. He pointed out hoe successful similar actlvltlaa had been In our Plumbing Promotion Program. It was decided that this work could ba tried out through the emplcyment of one field man, preferably a member of the Journeyman painters' union, who could attend union meetings, address them, perhaps show a slid*
fils, encourage the Sitab.lai.aent of apprentice training classes,
and see t.at painting couraas adequately covered tha question of materials.

Changes ln tnt Rational Lead Cospany's Technical Paint end
Color Service, Mrs. fc. K. Roberta1 service! were available fee
the Association. Be asked the Coaalttee ;`or Its views as fee
the advisability of the Industry establishing a color service,
of also using her knowledge In preparing aagixlne articles,
addressing woaen's aeetlngs and other activities related to our
work with luaber groups. It was generally agreed that a color
service alone Is not worthwhile, wnlch was the probable reason
aeabera had decided on a leas elaborate service than aalntalned
In the past.
