Four groups o f 5 male 5 female a lb in o ra ts o f the Sherman-Wistar S tra in weighing between 200 and 300 gm were employed in th is study. The ra ts were deprived o f food but not water fo r 24 hours p r io r to dosing. Each animal was weighed and dosed by d ir e c t a d m in istra tio n o f the experim ental m aterial in to the stomach by means o f a syrin g e and dosing needle. The sample was dosed as a 25% w/v suspension in corn o i l . The fo llo w in g dosage le v e ls were ad m inistered : 0.63 gm/kg 1.25 gm/kg 2.5 gm/kg 50 gm/kg Following adm inistration the animals were allowed food and w ater ad lib itu m fo r the 14 day o b servation period during which time the rats were observed fo r signs o f t o x ic it y and m ortalties.
