Action items cover the following specific areas: o Asbestos Hazard Warning Labels o Designation of Regulated Areas o Respirator Requirements o Protective Clothing/Change Room Requirements o Housekeeping Programs o Asbestos Monitoring Requirements Please recognize that many of the attached action items must be implemented as soon as practicable to ensure reasonable compliance with the new OSHA standard which became effective July 21, 1986. Also be advised that OSHA's Office of Health Compliance has indicated that enforcement guidelines for inspectors will be issued within the Agency by early September. Additional guidance concerning engineering controls, asbestos medical surveillance programs, employee training and recordkeeping are forthcoming. As questions occur, please advise.
