DATE THIS LETTER I have recently become aware that some plants are obtaining nearly all of their required VCM personnel monitoring samples within the first 4-6 months of the year. To obtain reliable and meaningful personnel documentation of employee occupational exposures to VCM (or any other hazard), samples must be collected throughout the year. Scheduling sample collection so that a few samples are obtained on each job class throughout the year will assure that all seasons of the year are covered so that the effects of changes in natural ventilation due to heating or cooling requirements on exposures are measured.
