Shaw and B & W use an asbestos paper in conjunction with hot welding. When th is paper is removed from the weld i t crumbles in to many pieces. The residue is swept up by employees o f the Union B o ile r Company. On July 12, 1973, in d u s tr ia l h y g ien ists from the OSHA Columbus Area Office v i s i t e d the Gavin P la n t and obtained a i r samples in conjunction with th is o p e ra tio n . On August 2, 1973, a c ita tio n was issued to the Union B oiler Company fo r v io la tio n s of P a rt 1910.93 a ( j ) , ( f ) , and ( i ) . This c ita tio n is attached. We understand th a t B.F. Shaw and B & Ww ill also receive c ita tio n s f o r v io la tio n s of the asbestos stan d ard s. As soon as these are a v a ila b le , they w ill be forwarded to your o f f ic e .
