To determinethe96-hour10% and 50% lethalloading(sLLIOand LL50),and the96-hourno observableeffectloading(NOEL) of the testsubstance,U1464, for larvalfatheadminnow (Pimephalespromelas) under statitcestconditions.
This study was conducted accordingto the AScl studyplan retainedby the Sponsor and OECD Guideline203 (OECD 1993). The testsolutionswere water-accommodated fraction(sWAF) preparedfollowingGirling,Whale, & Adema 1994.
3.0 TEST METHODS
Test Substance
Properties:U1464, whitecrystalss,pecificgravity= 1.7 (water = 1), stable,and negligiblseolubilitiyn water.
Test Organisms
Testloadings: 0 (dilutiownater control)78 mg/L, 130 mg/L, 216 mg/L, 360 mg/L and 600 mg/L. Testsolutionswere preparedby mass additionof testsubstanceto 1.5 L aliquotsof dilutionwater. The solutionswere vigorouslystirre(dvortex1/3 to 1/2 solutiondepth)for20 h. The aqueous phase was siphoned from the vesselat mid depth.
Source: Healthy, 24 hour old fathf-adminnow larvae(Pimephales promelas) obtainedfrom AScl-DETD in-house culture.
Holdinglacclimation:The fishused in the testswere obtained from AScl's in-houseculture.The fishwere culturedin water of thesame qualityas the testdiluent.
DilutionWater
Use in test:Used 10 organisms/replicataend 2 replicates/test concentration.
Source: Carbon-treatedechlorinateCdity of Duluth, MN, tapwater. The most recentchemicalanalysisof postcarbon (PC) water isin theRaw Data Package.
Exposure Chambers
Sponsor: 3M Company Sponsor Study ID# U1464
CharacteKstics: At testtime, the water had a hardness of 40 mg/L (as CaC03) and a pH of 7.87. Aerated for24 h priorto use in thetest. 7@pe: 250-ml borosilicatgelassbeakers.
Use in test:200 ml of dilutionwater or testsolution/cahmber. During the test, kept covered, exceptwhen experlmental observationswere made. Solutionswere not aeratedduring the exposures.
