SUBJECT:
Round-Robin Test on Talc Samples
As you can see from the minutes of the meeting of the Task Force with Dr. Langer at Mt. Sinai, we are exploring the possibility of doing a round-robin test on talc samples which would represent hoth a significant portion of the marketplace and, at the same time, give assurance that 1976 samples are chosen. In contrast', the samples listed in the minutes, which have been picked up by Dr. Langer for analysis, have a significant representation by . companies who have not assigned lot numbers or who' do not represent significant portions of the marketplace,-
At the next meeting of the Talc Subcommittee, we will discuss more fully whether or not and how we should participate in a round-robin analysis. In the meantime, I have been requested to list those talcs which represent.a significant portion of the market. In that connection, I am told that the following products represent over 90% (dollar volume) of the talc market;
1. Vaseline Baby Powder
2. Colgate Cashmere Bouquet
J 3, Mennen Bath Talc
A'. Mennen Baby Magic Powder
5. Johnson's Baby Powder
6. Johnson's Shower to Shower
7. Food & Drug Chain Private Labels
Let us discuss at the next meeting whether additional names shouldr'be added to this list. Presumably, if we go ahead with the round-robin analysis, Dr. Langer will-purchase samples of products-.hy. thse names, check lot numbers with the CTFA to ensure that they are 1976 samples and submit subsamples to the various groups whounay be participating in the analysis,
