Tom, would you please report the following THERMINOL sample results to Hr. Hudson at Shurtenda Steaks in Denver.
Sample received in late October
Viscosity 100F.
Acid Number Specific Gravity 25 *C.
34.4 centistokes
0.23 mg KOH/g 1.415
THERMINOL PR-1 is used in this application or, at least, was ordered recently; and decomposition has been the rule in the past. Normal FR-1 viscosity is 17 - 18 cs.
Acid number is high because of decomposition of the fluid. Specific gravity is high for FR-1--the normal value is 1.337.
THERMINOL has been contaminated by cooking oil recently and Findett has attempted recovery without much success.
I think we should Just report the results and suggest that fluid is decomposed.
You were asked to visit Shurtenda and, perhaps, can bring us up to date on recent developments.
Hudson asked us to review modification of the fryer and has promised to send prints.
It would help my file if you could supply the address of Shurtenda.
