Cushman reference TWS to JJR 6/25/75 The subject bulletin is based, to a great extent, on the criteria for a recommended standard pertaining to occupational exposure to asbestos, as issued by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The title of M-3 is "Possible Inhalation of Airborne Asbestos Fibers". If individuals handling a wet asbestos slurry are exposed to possible inhalation of airborne asbestos fibers, the medical surveillance provisions of M-3 apply. The cost of medical surveillance procedures varies over a wide' range, depending upon geographic location. Such fees, are, of course, charged to the corporate Medical Department. Howard Hansen, M.D. could provide you with an estimate of such costs in the Baton Rouge area. Additionally, he could advise you regarding what parts of the examination would be performed offsite.
