Host materials when placed within the body for a considerable length f time, such as semipermanent Indwelling tubes, etc., could cause abscess or fibrosis from mechanical trauma to the tissues, r a tissue reaction known as a foreign body reaction. X weald imagine that such effects have been noted from the use of rubber tubing, which has been so utilised for years. The stabilisers and plasticisers utilised with vinyllte for such applications should be those which are neither known Irritants nor sensltlscrs. They should also possess a low order of tozlolty. This would exclude the organic tin stabilisers, and because of reputation alone, the lead etablllsere. Nevicwlng the plasticisers listed In the correspondence regarding the formulation, the following are brief notes on the toxicity of those plasticisers which we have studied, CC-35 Low order of acute seal toxicity. Not an irritant or a eensltlser, 1-86 Noderate acute oral toxicity, but considered safe for proposed use. Net Irritating, but was not tested via human patch tests. TOP low order of acute oral toxicity. Klldly Irri tating to the skin. Probably a seasltlscr. tgo low order of acute oral toxicity.
