DeBernardi Oate September 13, 1974 Subject Dockhands VCM Exposure As reported to you on September 12, 1974 by phone, analytical results on personnel dosimeters worn by two dockhands during the loading of the VCM ship "Irene" in late August indicated a VCM exposure level higher than allowed by interim OSHA standards. The dockhands involved were Mr. Romero and Mr. Lunn. Time weighted average (TWA) VCM exposure levels for these men on August 28, 1974, between the hours of 1555 and 1930 showed 52.53 ppm. It is my under standing that we are required, by law, to inform these men of this exposure and what abatement steps will be taken to prevent a similar occurrence within 10 days of receipt of the information.
