Dear Mr. Wallaces We understand there is a movement on foot to remove the division of Trade Standards out of the National Bureau of Stand ards. We do not know the administrative reason for such a sug gestion but we do know somewhat of the efficiency of the Bureau of Standards and the prestige that the standards prepared under their procedure hold in the Building Industry. Because of this prestige, we are currently negotiating with the Bureau of Standards for a pre sentation of a proposed Commercial Standard. We trust that this activity will remain there, as a Commer cial Standard prepared by any other Governmental Agency would have to compete in prestige with those standards already set up by the Bureau.
