For your imformatton, we are using a MSA Battery Operated Pump which you have seen so often. When clipped to your belt and turned on, we are able to co llect a i r samplings tn and around the breathing zone where you are working. These samplings are taken a t such frequencies and patterns as to represent, with reasonable accuracy, the le v e ls o f exposure tn these p articu lar areas. These samples are sent to a laboratory to be tested, to Insure you sa fe , healthy working a re a s. We are pleased to report that since th is monitoring program started , t e s t resu lts have been good. Some o f you also questioned why It Is necessary tso wear resp irato rs, I f te sts show that we are well within the safe range. The law sta te s that even when environmental levels comply with the standard, we must s t i l l keep re cords o f the type o f respiratory protection In use darling the samplings.
