Riddle Library PLANT LABORATORY AUDITS No additional plant laboratories were audited this month. STOP PROGRAM After a little advertising by TCSC the Technical Center stop cards are coming in again at expected rates. ID&C LAB AUDIT At the request of ID&C (George Biggs) TCSC was asked to inspect their gas cylinder blending apparatus for safe use with liquid HCN. The apparatus was inspected on December 7, 1983. TCSC recommends that the ground glass connec tion for the liquid HCN flask be relocated in the existing hood ten feet away and connected to the gas blending manifold with stainless steel tubing. This way the liquid HCN never leaves the hood reducing the potential hazard of a spill. AGENDA FOR 1984 This year TCSC introduced several new ideas to promote itself. We need to think in terms of how we can improve on this for 1984. Take some time to think about how we can better serve and promote TCSC. We will discuss these ideas at the January meeting and try to establish an agenda for 1984. NEW HCN HANDLING PROCEDURES Because several groups in the Technical Center will be handling greater quantities of HCN next year and that the Technology Manual Bulletin 6 does not speak to this TCSC feels some guidelines on HCN handling should be written as procedures. Jay Cross will chair the subcommittee to look into this and Glenn Olson will review plant HCN procedures for input to the subcommittee. SC 001669 LAM002871 J. H. Cross, et al -2- December 16, 1983 SAFETY EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY Tech Center safety equipment-safety showers, fire extinguishers, 5-minute escape masks, etc is normally inspected weekly by two people. The reorganiza tion has reduced this to one person making it a difficult task to accomplish. J. McGinty and E. Dupuis are exploring the idea of shifting inspection re sponsibility to the people working in the area where the equipment is located.
