You are cordially invited to attend the ceremonies at the U.S. Department of Interior in Washington, D. C. on Monday, August 14, 1978, when your Association will deed its battery powered electric vehicle to the National Park Service. The electric vehicle, named GoLIAth III, is an enclosed van purchased by LIA in 1972 to demonstrate the economy and practicality of lead acid battery powered electric vehicles for a wide variety of commercial appli cations. GoLIAth has been on display and made deliveries in more than 25 United States and Canadian cities as part of your Association's electric vehicle demonstra tion program. During that time, the vehicle was driven more than 2,500 miles while delivering parcels, newspapers, mail and other such items. It has also been used by city and state agencies, as well as U.S. government departments. The National Capital Region, a division of the U.S. Department of Interior, has been operating GoLIAth for various purposes during the past two years. Due to the success of these operations, which were primarily concerned with transporting men and equipment to and from federal park recreation areas and historical sites in the Washington, D. C. area, GoLIAth is being turned over to the National Capital Region, National Park Service, for permanent service. GoLIAth will be joining a fleet of more than 50 electric vehicles operated by the National Capital Region, National Park Service, which is believed to have the most varied fleet of electrics in operation in the country. Mr. William P. Wilke III, Chairman of Lead Industries Association, Inc., and President of Hammond Lead Products, Inc., will present the registration and keys for the vehicle to Mr. William J.
