Under separate cover 1 am sending you several copies of Dr. Machle*s article on dermatitis which 1 promised you. When I saw you several days ago* I neglected to make mention of what had been done with regard to the testing of Fluid in Franc to determine the stent of its decomposition. When I left Hew York to go abroad I took with me a memorandum prepared by Calingaert proposing a certain method of handling th tests. I have no doubt you have a copy of this memorandum. After examining it rather carefully, the method proposed seemed to me to bo entirely satisfactory. I discussed it with Sevan and with Thenault neither of whom seemed to think the French would insist upon the examination of any considerable quantity of the Fluid. Haturally X urged that they do everything, that could be done to limit the testing as stringently as possible. It seems unlikely that much such testing will be done. Of course one difficulty which presents itself in Franc is that the Corporation has no laboratory there and therefore 'has no means of doing determinations so as to cheek any observations that are made by representatives of the Govern ment* Bevan has requested Calingaert to supply him with a translation of the method which he proposed, arid he and Thenault will work out the details. Neither Bevan nor Theriault seem to think that there will be much difficulty over the matter* Incidentally the copy of Calingaert*s recommendations which 1 took with me was left in London so that I have no copy of the method at present* I would appreciate it if you would keep me in touch with any further developments in the matter, and eventually I would like to N2046 2- yrahaia Edgar final methods which are adopted for my own records.
