Safety The October shift safety meeting addressed the topic of recreational safety for_the autumn and winter months. Also, September's audit was reviewed and the progress of the main items highlighted in the audit was discussed. Additionally, two recent accidents were reviewed and steps to be taken to prevent future accidents of this same nature were discussed. Personnel 1) Three Production Department reprimands were issued in October, They were for poor attendance (verbal), failing to punch time card (verbal), and operational error (written). 2) ICWU contract negotiations were held on October 12, 13, and 27, 1982. Additional meetings are scheduled for the first week in November with the intent of arriving at an agreement prior to the expiration of the contract (November 7, 1982). 3) Three ICWU employees are on long term absences as of November 1, 1982. rEN 3868 2- - IV. Costs 1) Conversion cost for October is estimated to 9.96<?/lb. 2) VCM and VAM usage, at 1030.8 pounds/M pounds, will be better than budget (1032). 3) Controllable overtime for the Production Department was 15.8%. The major factor in the overtime was coverage for long term absenteeism. V. Major Projects and On-Going Programs 1) Type 391 resin was produced at Flemington for the first time in three (3)-years. This material was produced for Kentile as an alternative for Type 314 resin. October's production was made under LOP. All properties have been "on target" and will not be made under LOP in the future. VI. Capital Programs Nothing to report. VII. Environmental t . if. 1) The VCM content of the stripped slurry averaged 123 ppm - there were no excursions over the EPA limit. 2) The reactor vapor samples averaged 865 ppm of VCM in October there were no excursions over the EPA limit. 3) The VCM content of the Waste Water Stripper bottom was below 1 ppm for October. 4) The Reactor Building VCM level averaged .3 ppm in October. 5) A total of 11 Production Department employees were monitored for VCM exposure via charcoal tube analysis in October. Additional employees have been monitored, but as yet these charcoal tubes have not been analyzed. The exposures analyzed are summarized as follows: % Above Avg. Comments 1) "RFT" for October was 87.2%, with 2.6% ultimately dispositioned as Grade III. 2) An operational error resulted in the cross contamination of 142,000 pounds of resin when the Dryer Operator dried Type 391 on top of bin containing Type 400 resin.
