Please refer to your 3/4/74 letter on the above subject Regarding the 17.1 average asbestos fiber level on black briquette press 15-7 it is important to note that the tests producing this result were made immediately upon completion of the installation of the exhaust ventilation system on this press As you know this is the press upon which we delayed installation of the exhaust ventilation system for business reasons Thus we believe the high fiber level resulted more from the need to make the usual adjustments to a new installation than from the actual capability of the system In support of this belief this press now has a 5.7 average asbestos fiber level based on tests made on 2/28/74 - a month after the installation of
the exhaust ventilation system Installation of the automatic mix
feed system further reduce the fiber level to some value below
the current 5.0 specification
Your letter also states that the reclaim room had 5 samples exceeding 10 fibers Here it is important to note that these values were based upon tests made on reclaim chopper 19-3 and 19-4 before moving this equipment into the reclaim room As you know this move was made during our Christmas shut down The equipment will operate in a closed room and be loaded from outside the room via
,
conveyor system
\
Referring to the chart attached to your 3/4/74 letter we note
a 6.2 fiber level on the block external grinder from the January
1974 sampling This is an error - the correct value is 1.6
