October 9, 1979 Cadillac - Bretz Report Ho. 8149
R.E. Nelson
R.L. Cutler
The following are my comments as they relate -to the various points covered in Earle Bretz latest report on the Cadillac situation regarding premature, rear wheel lock-up with 734-161 primary and 38-27E secondary linings.
No doubt a number of these questions will be answered, or at least clarified, following our meeting on October 11th with Cadillac and Delco Moraine.
1. Twenty-four pieces each of 2623086 and 2623089 were shipped to Delco Moraine for testing August 30, 1979 (Experimental Order 12803).
2. Try to get dynamometer data from Delco Moraine on the above samples before or at minimum during the October 11th meeting.
3. Try to get 105 or at minimum--preburnish effec tiveness check from car using the above samples.
4. Numbers 2. and 3. above are important as we would like to know if these samples solve the problem as we suspect problem samples contained VAG/Canadian asbestos blend in 38-27E. This could be the explanation for the problem.
5. If No. 4 is true, we can cover problem,.solur tion, and future control easily with good confidence for future with plausible story.
6. I was under the impression from earlier discus sions with Earle Bretz that 734-161 was suspect material by Cadillac and Delco Moraine. This report says 38-27E is suspect. Is this a change in position?
7. Al Indelicato has agreed to be at the October 11th meeting.
