Suskind Kettering Laboratory University of Cincinnati Eden Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45219 jJ iMfiHlHEHBfijP Dear Ray: My records show that on October 14, you called to discuss the possibility of a follow-up study on the workers who were ex posed in fehet episode in the 1948-1955 years at Nitro. I'm sorry that I have been unable to get back to you before this time. I have met with the representatives of the Manufacturing Depart ment responsible for the Nitro Plant. They have been attempting to bring together what information is available within Monsanto on that episode. In addition, I have been trying to put to gether information that is available here in the Medical Department in St. Louis. Finally, I tried to call Dr. Kelly and he is out of the country. It appears now that there is no single file in Monsanto that describes the episode fully. We have agreed in principle that we will try to put together a follow-up study on those workers who were involved in the chloracne problem in the early 1950's. Since the information i not available in any one place on which to determine what the study group will be, I will be making an effort to establish this group and if you have some data concerning workers you thi should be included, I would welcome any help you can give. Aft Dr'. Kelly returns to St. Louis, I may have a better feeling of the scope of the problem. After I have made a decision on exactly what I can do as a follow-up, I will contact you for your suggestions. I do thank you for your interest and for bringing this possible study to my attention.
