On April 28, 1977, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted'to ban asbestos in consumer patching compounds under Section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act. A.T. Kearney, Inc., is under contract to the Commission (Contract #CPSC-C-77-0009) to study the economic and environmental effects of the proposed ban as it pertains to patching compounds, including present and future use of substitutes, and certain background data concerning the production and marketing of these products.
