We may not always agree on every issue, but I appreciate the chance to have candid discussions with you and your staff. I especially appreciate our discussion on Good Samaritan and abandoned mine clean up policies. We look forward to your exploration of administrative options for helping Good Samaritans, and we w ill be providing your staff with some background material that we hope will be useful. As we discussed, Bristol Bay's fisheries are like none-on-earth, and I sincerely hope that you will listen to the voices and views of people from the region and state, and not permit large scale industrial mining in the region. As an angler, 1 know you understand the value of small, seasonal streams as sources of cold, clean water and as important spawning and rearing habitats. I hope you are similarly open to hearing the views of millions of anglers across America, and ensure these headwater streams are protected by the Clean Water Act--as they were for the first 30 years of the law'.
