Slager OLD BUSINESS 1. Testing Pressure Tank Bombs Mr. Ryan presented a Justification for the replacement of bombs now in service in production areas. The Board approved the replace ment of bombs in production. Research will follow with a similar replacement program. Mr. Ryan will coordinate the replacement of bombs in various areas. Control laboratory and research will handle the disposition of old bombs. 2. Potable Water Color Code In a letter from Mr. J. W. Wilson, of the State Department of Health to Mr. Grissom, the state suggested "The color blue be given the potable water system." Because this color does not meet with our plant standards, this suggestion is being declined. NEW BUSINESS 1. Hourly Safety Committee The new committee met on July 6 and because this was their initial meeting, there were no suggestions for the Board at this time. SC 16896 LAM024166 PMSB Page 2 2. Major Incident Investigation Since major incident investigation is the responsibility of the superintendent in whose Jurisdiction the incident occurs and he either writes or approves the investigation report before distribution, he will assign responsibility for action to various individuals or groups for those items appearing as "Action Taken" or "Recommendations" in the report. 3. Grounding Welding Machines An Incident which occurred in research involving improper grounding of a welding machine was discussed. A report of this incident will be distributed to members of the Board in the near future. 4. The Use of 75 Lbs, Steam for Pile Driving It was reported that in the driving of piles in the AN area the use of plant 75 lbs. steam was successful, and that engineering should consider the use of 75 lbs. steam for this purpose for future Jobs. Such a procedure would improve the safety in the plant since it would eliminate the need for setting up a boiler using open fires for this type of work. 5. Process Hazard Committee Audit Items The Safety Director requested that the superintendents submit their status report on the various Process Hazard Committee Items a3 soon as possible. CLG:It C. L.
