Grumbles May 9, 1989 TGG: JCL: WIMP AJO: RF XF: ________________ ADDITIONAL EO SAMPLING AT SOUTH COAST TERMINALS Last year, in an attempt to evaluate short-term exposures to EO during the drumming of Alfonic ethoxylates, Sid Pitts took air samples at South Coast Terminals in Houston during a drumming operation. South Coast is one of our main drumming contractors. . When the results were obtained and analyzed it was felt that analytical discrepancies made that data unreliable. The sampling and problems were documented in a memo. We need +-0 sample again to accurately determine the exposure potential to assure our warnings are adequate and status of the ethoxylates in relation to the OSHA EO excursion limit of 5.0 ppm for 15 minutes. I can arrange to do the sampling of South Coast during an ethoxylate drumming operation. I would need two low-volume pumps and 10-15 tubes. The analysis would be done at an outside laboratory, probably C-TEK. They charge $35.00-$42.00 per analysis.
