Participated in a Louisiana Chemical Association meeting with Senator John Breaux's staff to provide comments on proposed revisions to the Clean Air Act. 2. Participated in a discussion with EPA to settle a pending lawsuit over LCCC wastewater permit exceedances, EPA offered to settle for $135,000. Our acceptance is contingent upon language of the settlement papers. EPA will be back to us within a month with their answer to our suggestions. 3. Represented Vista at a meeting of Tobacco Sucker control agent formulators to determine who will proceed with the current EPA required reregistration. It was decided that Vista will not reregister but will technically support a consortium of formulators that is being formed to reregister 810 and 10 alcohols. Estimated costs to the consortium exceed 1 million. 4. Observed two days of a safety and health audit being conducted at the LCCP by the International Loss Control Institute. This audit is being conducted to determine if it is useful for Vista and could be utilized in a turn-key fashion versus developing a new system in-house. 5. A meeting was held with Dave Penny, R & D, and our consultant toxicologist to review and make final revisions to toxicological testing protocols to be used in testing CATAPAL Alumina. Final protocols should be available in two weeks. 6. A meeting was held to reorganize the Vista Toxicology Assessment Committee based on staff additions in R & D. Dave Penny, Toxicologist, will be the new Chairman. Modifications of the committees charter and working documents were discussed. Current testing needs for active product development projects were also reviewed. 7. Presented audit training to S & T Ex-Plant group. This training will serve as a guideline for the group to use during their audits of ex-plant operations. Environmental will accompany them during the first few audits for guidance. 8. The final report should be out in early February. 10. Advised R & D concerning SARA 311/312 submittals. Essentially, R & D will not have to report all of their chemicals due to certain exemptions in the regulations. 11.
