The results do not indicate a significant exposure level for the in-plant operation of product loading, however, the area samples do indicate that measurable levels of benzene could accumulate in storage vessels or other product handling areas. Although we cannot accurately assess the exposure potential in our customers work place, based on these results, I recommend that a warning statement regarding the potential for benzene exposures be added to the Material Safety Data Sheet. This would best go in Section 2, under Hazard Data. Proposed language would be as follows: This product contains trace amounts of benzene which could accumulate in the vapor space of storage vessels or other product handling areas. Appropriate precautions should be taken to prevent benzene exposures. Benzene is a recognized human carcinogen. Please let me know if you have further thoughts or comments on the above.
