July 11, 1935 Mr. 0., M. Liles Magnolia Petroleum Company Refinery Department Beaumont, Texas Dear Mr. Lilesi Following receipt of your letter of June 20th, we had opportunity to examine the cartridge type respirator manufactured by the Willson Products, Inc. of Reading, Pennsylvania and have corresponded with them in an attempt to obtain information on the type of cartridge they recommend for use with lead tetraethyl. At the present time the Willson Company has no cartridge which they will recommend as pro tection against lead tetraethyl vapors. We, conse quently, can not approve their use in Ethyl mixing operations We realize perfectly the difficulties connected with wearing a respirator during the summer season, hut at the present time the gas mask with the complete face piece and activated charcoal canister offers the only certain means of protection. Very truly yours, WFMrIS Willard F. Machie K 0022482
