Bowavar, the hazard involved in handling asbastos filled spiral wound caskets is lass than that of handling asbastos fibers of dust, because in spiral wound gaskets the as bestos is contained in a Latex bound paper. Please refer to the attached Material Safety Data Sheet for additional information. While we can not certify that asbestos filled spiral wound gaskets do not contain hazardous asbestos per the requirements of your letter, please be advised that we do offer several alterna tives to asbestos. In addition to those materials listed on ..pages 6 and 7 of the enclosed Bulletin 171 (Ptfe, Ceramic, Flexicarb), we will soon have available, for testing, a nonasbestos micaceous (Chlorite) based filler.
