Dear Doctor Donnelly: I am sending you containers for the, collection of samples of blood and urine from your patient, Mr. and I trust you will find It convenient to obtain tnes^sampKs in strict accordance with the instructions. I send these at this time for the reason that I should not want there to be any further delay in obtaining analytical results for your information. Incidentally, there will be no charge for this service, and I regret that previous charges were made for the analysis of samples at the time of Doctor Whipps1 requests. We are glad to look into any situation of this sort without expense to the person who is suspected of having absorbed lead as a consequence of work which involves the handling of leaded gasoline. Ve shall be very glad to see Mr. VH^but before doing so I would like to wait for the return of one of my colleagues who Is at present on a vacation. He vill be bac^on September 1, and I should like to arrange with you to have Mr.^HBNnt to us on the first Saturday, following his return, that is mutually convenient. Either he or I will advise you in advance, so that this can be arranged. Hot only will we wish to carry out whatever labor^orv work is necessary, but we shall also wish to examine Mr. thoroughly , and it is for this reason that 1 wish to have the collaboration of my associate. Incidentally, in connection with your letter I want to correct an impression, presumably given to you by the patient. Samples of the urine and blood of this man were forwarded to us for analysis in June of 1946 and again in August of 1946. Our analytical results at that time did not Indicate the occurrence of occupational lead exposure, the results being within normal limits In both blood and urine. One of the first samples of urine was slightly high, but not remarkably so for a sample of the volume and specific gravity indicated. Subsequent analyses confirm our initial conclusion that there had been no evidence.of recent lead exposure. Despite these facts and this statement^veshould be very pleased to see what we can do to Interpret Mr. Past present status, and we should be happy to give him any other assistance that might be possible, in making a recovery.
