The purpose of the session with Dr. Yamada is to explore potential collaborations between the States and the Agency. During this session we will discuss scientific issues/concerns that are relevant to States, EPA, and science matters unique to Region 3. It is clear that emerging contaminants such as PFOA/PFAS, nutrients, and lead are major issues of national concern. As State agencies working on the front lines of protecting public health and the environment, I am reaching out to you to help expand this list to shape the conversation with Dr. Yamada by sharing with me the top concerns and scientific issues your State is grappling with. By providing insights on the environmental problems you face we can best translate EPA and ORD science into well informed decision tools for States and communities. To have ample time to prepare I am hoping to have feedback before August 9, if possible.
