It was great to have the different DGs teams represented in one single discussion. I attach, as promised, the slide pack we used in the meeting. To reiterate Honeywell has data and information to share in particular on: 1. The degradation products of F gases, which gets a large part of attention in the proposal as relates to Fluorinated gases such as HFOs. We disagree with the representation of this subject (see slides 13-14). 2. Comparing alternatives side by side with F gases in actual applications: We consider the proposal does not include a proper and complete assessment of alternatives as required under REACH. We understand this is a vast and complex topic and we remain willing to share our perspective and most especially to share different case studies and other comparisons we have undertaken should this be useful for your ongoing and future work. (Seeslide 15) To give you a flavor of data we have I attach a summary of two studies carried out by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORN) in the U.S. these assessments take a data-driven approach to comparing the energy efficiencies of alternative solutions for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems and Foam Blowing Agents (FBA) in 12 cities around the world including Frankfurt, Oslo, and Rome. Researchers found that HFO mixtures can reduce the total lifetime emissions from 2.5% to 3.8%. In addition, it shows that HFO-based blends require the lowest overall energy usage in all cities studied for commercial refrigeration and pure HFO used in FBA can mitigate the use of flammable and explosive materials in high-density, urban areas. We believe this data support our ask for a derogation of our gases. We remain available and open to further discussion on this file and/or to answer any questions/clarifications you have as this process continues.
