Marino Chief Engineer Quigley Company, Inc. 235 E. 42nd Street New York, New York 10017 Re: Panelex Insulation Dear Mr. Marino: j I have reviewed the information submitted with your letter of March 8, 1974 concerning your company's request for approval of the use of the non-asbestos bearing Panelex insulating material. Based on the data submitted a request by a licensed contractor for use of this material would be acceptable under the conditions described below. Any derivatives of this material having the same or similar minerial constituents (non-asbestos bearing) v/ill be approved upon submission of an analysis for our records. The application of this material by "spray-on" methods to surfaces directly exposed to the outside atmosphere or any other situation where fugitive dust may be generated must be performed by a company or contractor having a current operating license issued by this agency. Guidelines for application are as follows: 1. All mixing and spraying areas must be completely enclosed. 2. All mixing and spraying areas must be sweep clean after wards with all refuse placed in sealed containers. 3. Workmen must wear respirators. Stokinger of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare concerning an opinion on our Panelex Insulation. Please note that correspondence started on June 13, 1972 and was completed August 31, 1972. Needless to say, we crust this information is kept strictly confidential. Since Panelex was introduced, we have developed a number of derivatives for specific applications (such as gunning) which we would like to discuss with you at the appropriate time.
