NEW YORK, MARCH 7, 1962 - Oscar D. Niedermeyer, general manager, St. Louis Smelting & Refining Division of National Lead Company, died February 22 of a heart attack. He was 56 years old. Mr. Niedermeyer was first employed by National Lead Company in 1<&8 to direct operations of its Mexican antimony mines. The following year he was named manager of Texas Mining and Smelting Division, and in 1952 he became assistant manager of the U. S. Government nickel refinery at Nicaro, Cuba, operated by Nickel Processing Corporation, a subsidiary of National Lead Company. In 1953 be was appointed vice president of Nickel Processing Corporation, and general manager of the Nicaro facility. Since 1957 he has been general manager of the St. Louis Smelting & Refining Division at Fredericktown, Missouri. Prior to joining National Lead Company Mr. Niedermeyer had nineteen years of experience in the operation and management of mining enterprises. He was employed by various mining companies doing exploration work in Mexico and he served, nine years as general manager of Companio de Oruro which operated tin mines in the Republic of Bolivia. He received his B.S. and E.M. degrees in mining engineering from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. Mr. Niedermeyer was a member of the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and Sigma Chi Fraternity.
