This paper is not recommended for publication in its present form, for the reason that the question of accuracy of the methods of sampling and analysing the samples has not been set forth. The conclusions drawn by this work maj| be fully justified, although this is doubtful. However, the conclusions are highly significant, physiologically. The only thing that is clear, Assuming that the sampling and analysis have been even approximately correct, is that the determination of the lead content of the plasma of the blood, bay these methods, provides no useful information relevant to the diagnosis or prognosis in lead poisoning. As to the accuracy of methods employed, it must be recognized that the reader of this article must accept them at their face value on faith in the authors, or require the evidence that will prove the precise magnitude of the error. The conclusions are of such physiological importance that such acceptance on faith is not possible. >
