The least pigment and color that can be used, and yet secure good covering qualities makes the best color varnish, because the free working and leveling of the varnish is impeded to the least degree. In soliciting Japan business, representatives should always ascertain what the requirements are--the baking time, oven heat used, the thinners and proportion, to gether with other conditions which have a bearing and these facts shonld be given at the time of placing an order. 024,4 Extra Black Baking Japan:--This is the highest grade of Japan intended for fine work on fenders, typewriters, adding machines, sewing machine heads, etc. It works freely under the brush and bakes with a brilliant lustre. When brushed it will take an oven heat of 350 degrees for 4 hours or 375 degrees for 3 hours. For dip work it will stand a reduction of S3j4 Der cent, and will bake at 350 degrees in 2% hours' time. Where it is desired to procure a very high class finish, the Japan should not be reduced and, when baked according to instructions, can be rubbed down with fine pumice stone and water and polished to a satin-like finish with rotten stone and oil. No. 320 Black Japan:o--WTOhis"3J--apan is strictly high grade for work requiring an excellent finish and we spe cially recommend it for fender work on account of its flowing properties, toughness and lustre. This black should also be sold for tool boxes, hoods, buggy bows, bow sockets, umbrella frames, etc. It stands reducing about 33j 3 per cent, dtps perfectly without silking and shows a splendid elastic fibre. When brushed it should be baked at 350 degrees for 3 hours and, when dipped, at 350 degrees for 2 hours. It does not soften up under kerosenMe oil. >2-^3_ No. ieB-Baklng Japan:--This is a good, heavy-bodied black and can be recommended particularly for castings and malleable work, also for sewing machine frames, seat posts, metal furniture, builders' hardware, etc. It will reduce 26 to 50 per cent for dipping, flows perfectly and drips without runs or tears. It will bake at 350 degrees In 2 hours' time or at a lower heat If the oven time is correspondingly increased. No. 500 Baking Japan:--S^ntended for use on springs and a general line of wire goods. R. shows good cover ing capacity when reduced 33y3 to 50 per cent with Naphtha and bakes out with a dense black, elastic, high gloBs finish. When reduced in the proportion given, it will bake a t 250 degrees In 2 hours or in one hour at 350 degrees gas heat. Extra Anti-Rust Primer::--1 'EbLre are a great many articles finished in Japan where, on account of being subject to very severe wear, It is advisable to first coat with a primer which will bake very tenaciously to the metal surface. Our Anti-Rust Primer has been per fected on a base which secures to It a natural cohesive force of attraction for metal. It Is without question the finest material ever developed for baking purposes. It is primarily intended as a foundation coat but, when used alone, it gives a very pleasing half gloss effect. The maximum of elasticity on bow sockets, etc., is secured if baked at a temperature of 200 degrees for 6 or 7 hours. Rubber Fnish Baking Japan:--Made to bake out with three different effects known as A, B, and C--full lustre, medium gloss and dull rubber. Rubber Finishes are now extremely popular and extensively UBed on au tomobile accessories, lamps, headlights, horns, control levers, etc., as well as on hardware specialties, toys and novelties. When used on lamps or other articles that are soldered, the maximum heat tolerance Is from 240 to 250 degrees with a baking time of about 2 hours. If used on iron, which will take a higher degree of heat, the baking time may be cut down to one hour at 350 degrees. These materials can be thinned slightly with pure turpentine for dipping. In the natural consistency they are just right folr brushing and are used with splen did success for spraying in the air brush. Lamp Japan, High Gloss:--A Japan for use on spun brass must be of a quality and consistency produced only by special care in the process of manufacture. Our Lamp Japan shows a perfect fibre, a beautiful gloss finish, with one spray coat or two brush coats. Will bake out at a temperature of 250 degrees in 1S4 to 2 hours' time with a finish whtch is extremely handsome and which shows the greatest elasticity and durability.
