The carbon tetrachloride is now distilled off with Jet steam only* The distillation is continued until the vapors in the column reach 100C and the ratio of oil to water in the distillate is nil. Now stop the distillation, allow the oil to settle and separate* Draw off the bottom product layer to drums, saving the last drum (which may contain water} for subsequent separation* Add 2=3 pounds of soda ash to eaeh drum prior to loading to dry the oil.
