The attached information summarizes the results of 0565 steam heating trials,
The work demonstrates that 0565 can be steam stripped, to 140F, to reach residual VCM levels below 2,000 ppm. This level was achieved in significantly less time than was necessary during nitrogen sparge trials conducted at lower temperatures. Filterability of the steam stripped material was not affected. Conclusions and data tabulation are attached.
The next step in the program will be a similar evaluation of steaming on DHW-80 products, 1730 and 1742. Consecutive batch trials will ultimately be necessary to determine any effect on finished product quality and processing.

CONCLUSIONS
1. Latex temperatures as high as 142F. were obtained by direct steaming of latex without affecting filterability.
2. Direct steaming, during the recovery cycle (after 10" HG Vac), does not adversely affect the filterability of 0565 latex.
3. Initiation of steaming in the middle of the recovery cycle reduced the total cycle time necessary to reach required VCM levels.
4. VCM levels of less than 2000 ppm were consistently reached in less than 3 hours stripping time without the use of nitrogen sparge.
5. Stripping temperatures of 140F. yielded redidual VCM levels of approximately 500 ppm without the use of nitrogen sparge. Levels as low as 120 ppm were reached.
6. The dilution effect of steaming resulted in an average % solids reduction of 2.5% (typically 437= to 40.57,).
