Your 7/29 request to change the limits on certain inorganics was reviewed on the basis of pro duction data available in the 7/20 color test report. The attached data tabulation and plots show: present F&FP limits (dotted line); limits within which 95% of our visually approved production falls (solid line); your proposed new limits (diagonal areas); and possible other limits (tabulated only--not shown on plot). The dots in the plots each represent a single visually approved lot. . We have not submitted the proposals to F&FP yet and will not do so until all involved have had an opportunity to review them. In this review we suggest several things be considered: The F&FP limits will in all likelihood become established for all C&P customers by year-end, we are under increasing customer pressure to narrow our limits whether they are realistic or not, what will we do with lots which are outside adopted limits?, can we adjust the process to bring production within the F&FP limits?, and those codes with non-symetrical dir^ribution around the standard should be restandardized.
