J- ' EMPLOYEE RELATIONS DEPARTMENT MEDICAL DIVISION WILMINGTON, DELAWARE October 11, 1968 TO: ALL PLANT PHYSICIANS FROM: C. ANTHONY D'ALONZO, M. D., MEDICAL DIRECTOR jI In my letter of August 1, 1968, I requested the names / of workers exposed to asbestos. Several physicians since then have asked whether workers exposed sporadically shoulcr be included in the list. . We would like to include only_' those exposed regularly - for at least eight hours per month, such as laggers, pipecoverers, insulators', and workers in areas contaminated with asbestos dust. Do not include workers exposed irregularly for short periods of time. - L You will find enclosed some interesting reprints which we hope might be helpful to you. Briefly, these deal with the problem of smoking, some hazards of oxygen therapy, the very useful suggestion on clearing an acutely blocked eustachian tube, the biochemical changes relating to hypertension, and some thoughts on the detection of diabetes roellitus. - I am also enclosing a reprint of ours, which we hope you will find interesting. We thought that the comments dealing with cardiovascular disease among problem drinkers would be useful. We are attempting to find out the extent to which beryllium might be used within the Company, and Dr. Zahn's letter to Medical Supervisors on this item is enclosed. - Since my last communication;three personnel changes have occurred. Dr. R. P. (Bob) Miller, who had been with us for thirtyfive years, retired from our Old Hickory plant* I know many of you recall Bob from previous medical meetings.
