Much appreciated and I hope I am not wearing out my welcome. I may need some lead time to get on other people's schedules as it will involve travel no matter where the meeting is held. I'm not holding very many outside meetings at this point but we will get something scheduled soon. I am putting together a package of information about the TSCA and other EPA issues of interest to IPC and the electronics industry. I should have something to you in a day or so. I also wanted to follow up on the emails I sent to you earlier about scheduling a meeting with you for the founder and CEO of Clean Flarbors. I had not heard back from you and raised this issue with John Konkus over coffee a couple of weeks ago. John is an old friend from when we both worked together on the Hill back in the 90s. My note to him following up on our discussion is below which you may have already seen from John. As I mentioned to John, the purpose of the meeting request with you was to introduce you to and the senior EPA leadership to Clean Flarbors and their issues but also to see if we could schedule a site visit to one of their facilities. I outlined some options for such a visit for either you or Administrator Pruitt as summarized below. I emphasized that this is a positive environmental and jobs message and shows strong cooperation between EPA and industry. Let me know what you think. Best wished in your important role at the agency. Gabe Sierra Club v. EPA 18cv3472 NDCA Tier 11 ED 002061 00259291-00001 From: Rozsa, Gabe Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2018 1:23 PM To: Konkus, John <konkus.iohn@ep3.gov> Subject: Clean Harbors Meeting-Site Visit Request Dear John, I am following up on our conversation about trying to schedule a meeting or site visit between EPA senior leadership and Alan McKim, the Founder and CEO of Clean Harbors, which is the largest environmental services company in the US. Some background on the company is found here and covers both their environmental service work and their recycling of used oil and solvents through their Safety-Kleen subsidiary. As I mentioned they were formed to help with the cleanup of Boston Harbor. They have been involved in virtually every major US environmental cleanup project over the past 35 years. This includes the Exxon Valdez and Gulf oil spills and numerous national hurricane and disaster relief efforts. They provide cost effective environmental services to the EPA, the Department of Defense, FEMA and other Federal agencies and almost all of the Fortune 500 companies. As I mentioned, we have a meeting request pending with Andy Wheeler but our goal is ultimately a site visit where we can highlight the positive economic and environmental message of doing good by doing well. Two possible meeting venues are: Safety-Kleen's East Chicago, used oil refinery in Northwest Indiana, the largest such facility in the world, where dirty used oil is refined into high quality lubricants that have gone into US Humvees and Indy race cars. Clean Harbor's Lone Mountain RCRA permitted Hazardous Waste Landfill, in Northwest Oklahoma, which is one of the largest RCRA landfills in the country, including a review of the mile long rail transfer facility constructed specifically to handle the 3 million cubic yards of PCB contaminated dredged material from the Hudson River and Hudson Falls Superfund sites processed at the facility in a cost effective and environmentally safe manner. As I mentioned, they have had an excellent working relationship with various offices and regions, including work done recently with Patrick Davis and the career staff within OLEM and the CSPP, as well as with Susan Bodine when she served as AA for the predecessor arm of EPA that housed Superfund and RCRA programs. We would be happy to work with you on dates that might be best for Alan McKim and you all as well. Let me know if you need a more formal letter and whom else I may need to reach out to on this. You had mentioned someone I think in OLEM (Steve??) whom I might want to also connect with and I failed to jot down the name so let me know.
