Pipe Fab Shop behind 167. BOILER #2 AREA - In at 1:00 p.m. Check ground/voltage on welding machine #92009. Inspection of upper levels. BOILER #4 AREA - Out at 1:30 p.m. Excavation and cement pouring area. Check for ear protection. PIPE BRIDGENBETWEEN BECON AREAS - In at 1;30 out at 1:35 p.m. Ingersoll Rand compressor. Auto off/on switch for impact wrench. Welding bottle rig. 02 AREA - In at 1:35 p.m. Check of ground on welding machine #92015, welding lead on machine. Random safety belt and line checked. Check welding machine 92013 and welding leads. INSIDE 02 BUILDING - In at 1:40 p.m. Walk through downstairs area inspected. Check of piping work area upstairs. Checked ground on disc grinder, electrical connections and welding leads. Bottles in rack secure. Check Hiller welding machine #72401. Check mechanic's switch box. Visual check of area. Toolroom checked. Checked behind fab shop. Spoke with employee #330. Recommended "NO SMOKING" sign for field truck eventhough entire project is a no smoking area. Talked with employee #575 (Foreman). Tom Self - showed records on crane and all equipment pertaining to maintenance, especially checked the critical elements of-Manitowoc crane and both Gallion cherrypickers. Recommended monthly safety report of safety checks of the crane, operating parts, cable. Went back inko the toolroom and he checked electrical records both monthly and quarterly and spoke with Jose Canales #559. Field inspection ended at 3:55 p.m. He checked the water cooler plug in the-office building. At 4:00 p.m...Mr. Frazier stated: "I want to congratulate you on a safe job. I was very much surprised as I expected to find a number of violations. Due to the time of day I will return tomorrow to complete the closing conference." Mr. Frazier reviewed 1926.550 A-(6) which concerns annual inspecting and 1926.550 B-(2) which refers to ANSI B30.5-1968. He also reviewed from general industry 1910.180 - (b) (6) inspecting records. Mr. Frazier stated: "This is practically the same as covered in ANSI B-30.5 1968."
