Vodden, Ruabon TO : Elmer P. Wheeler On Friday, November 13, Mr. H. A. Vodden and X visited the Monkswood Experimental Station Nature Conservancy N.E.R.C. (Department of Science and Education). We talked to a group of scientists from the Toxicology and Wildlife Section which Included Dr. N. W. Moore, Dr. J. D. Jefferies, a Dr. Morarty, a Dr. French, Mr, Ian Prestt and Mr. J. L. F. Parslowe. We gave Dr. Jefferies copies of tne current status reports covering the Bio-Test work on PCB's. We dis cussed the results of this work briefly and they noted that some of the effects on the chickens and In the rat reproduction studies could be due to food consumption on the part of the test animals. , They explained that In some of the test cases the effect of refusal to eat and possibly the effect of the toxin Itself could both contribute to the results noted. In general this group of scientists were very compli mentary to Monsanto for Its efforts In connection with PCB's and Dr. Jefferies specifically noted that this kind of cooperative effort from Industry with governmental laboratories would prevent much of indus tries difficulties In marketing-thei^- products.
