Dear Dr# Bowes:
i of the ^th#
Thanh you very much for your letter -
Y/e are acquainted -with the fact that
chrysotile gels on treatment with v/ater but as far as
we have been able to determine, at least partial
gelation does not affect its capacity to irritate
tissues#
'
Ve have injected it in suspensions of physiological salt solution and found that it would produce as nueh as or more fibrosis of the lungs as when inhaled as dry dust#
I would be very pleased indeed if your research personnel could furnish us with any data on the gelation characteristics of chrysotile which they have developed*
Very truly yours.
