Dear Ed:
Confirming our telephone conversation of October 19, we would be glad to sit on the Institute's Asbestos Study Committee.
As I mentioned to you, we too, are concerned about govern ment actions which may directly effect the friction mater ials industry. It is in the industry's interest to develop and implement work practices that adequately protect the worker before the governmnet steps in with its own regulations. We feel organizations such as FMSI are best suited to carry out this task.
I cannot tell you, at this time, who will be J-M's represen tative to the committee or whether J-M will become an FMSI member. However, when you schedule your next Asbestos Study Committee meeting, someone from J-M will be present.
I will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient meeting date the next time I am in the New York area.
Very truly yours,
James F. Reis Market Manager Asbestos Fiber
