Demicronized Talc
ProjecNot. 2006.01
Report for April - May 1977
OBJECTIVE
Develop a commercially practicable talc product having a minimum content of particles 5 microns and below
SUMMARY:
A Airborne Respirable Particles ARP
Particle Size Distribution of PEG Treated Talc
Particle size distribution by optical microscopic count
of ARP from the following PEG treated powders has been
determined and reported Project 2006.01 4/25/77
a
JBP - Control
0
JBP 0.25 PEG
C.
JBP with demicronized talc 0.25 PEG
The results showed that the ARP fractions from powders
a b and c all had maximum particle counts in the 6-7
micron range
The distribution curves for samples a & b
are about the same however the curve for the demicronized
talc c shows a sharp decrease in particles in the range
below 6.7 microns
This would be expected since many of
these particles were previously removed by the demicro-
nization process
