G. Wright .- S'J.yxjlKY: Aroclor losses from che Anntscor Plane for ehc 'period April IS through June 30, 1970, averaged =*16 lbs./day. This Is a considerable imp revenue over che losses of?250 lbs./day for a comparable period during 1969. This reduccien has been primarily achieved by an educaeion progren and by changing operacing habits. Hovever, projects are being installed ar..r evaluated vhlch will further reduce these losses toward che Business Crr goal of 10 ppb. nrt'URE v;q?j<: 1. Chirr:no tor and Still Rcom Severs Ac times these severs had a two phase flaw. The quantity o the Aroclor phase could not be determined. However, these evo severs are being routed through the Aroclor suaa. Hien the sump is completed and put into operation, the Aroclor phase can then be quantified. The sump will, also, provide a means for recovering this second phase, which under present conditions eventually makes its way out of the . plant. -. Vhen the sump is Installed in these severs, a daily sample will be taken and analyzed to determine the efficiency of the sump. Other projects are also scheduled which should result In a reduction of Aroclor In this process scream. C. Varehouse Sewer The major losses from this sever* sre due to spills while drumming or flaking. These spills arc then swept to the sever during floor clean up. Presently, clsan-up is accomplished by use of Du-3ois steam cletr.ir. trflich considerably raised the solubility of Aroclor in water. Alternate methods of clean-up and disposal sre presently being evaluated. 0. Total Plant Effluent During the period April 13 to June 30, 1970, the total plant losses averaged Iv lbs./day. Thla is excluding the period April 21 to June 20, 1970, when the acid neutralization pit was being cleaned cut. During thla period, the losses ran very high (See Data Sheet V.) due to the fact that the Aroclor which was trapped in the pit was being stirred and entrained into the plant effluent.
