As I mentioned to George Roush, I wanted to have this for my file. I will, of course, look upon it as a private communication between your self and Patterson. I just had a phone call from Len Huxtable and he tells me that the Hear ing on the Danielson Bill by the Interim Committee is still scheduled for May 7. He also stated that Sherman was planning to prepare a resume of the statements made at the last Hearing, which was held on May 16, 1963, in hopes that the members of the Committee could review these statements prior to the meeting. Sherman also hopes by this means to discourage a rehashing of previous testimony at the forthcoming Hearing. He said that he hoped that the Hearing could be confined to statements concerning new developments. In this con nection, Sherman mentioned specifically developments such as the findings of Dr. Clair Patterson. Whether Patterson wrould be in a position to go back to the Coast to make a statement is problematical, but I suspect, in view of his newly-acquired love of publicity, he could be persuaded to do so. At any rate it appears as if we are likely to hear from Dr. Patterson either in person or through a written statement. You will recall that when we had our meeting in your office on January 29 on the subject of Dr. Patterson, I suggested that you hold the date of May 7 open so that you could be in a position to make such statements as might be necessary in conjunction with the Hearing on the Danielson Bill. It now looks as if we had better count on being at the Hearing, and I would like to ask you to make this a firm date.
