Extreme caution must be exercised when handling asbestos ladden material for the following reasons: 1) Asbestos is an insidious known carcinogen which effects the lungs. Care must be taken to protect worker health. 2) The law requires that asbestos be handled in a certain prescribed manner. Attention to certain details such as the proper protective equipment (respiratory protection, protective clothing, footwear, etc..),removal techniques, and - proper disposal procedures can not be circumvented. Asbestos is one of those compounds within the refinery that we must henceforth handle with extreme caution. All necessary steps and procedures for asbestos removal must be followed without exception if we are to protect our workers and the environment.
